VP/Editorial Director

Seeking seasoned editorial executive who has a consistent track record in publishing AAA texts in his/her area of expertise or under his/her management tenure. This person will have a positive history not only of growth under his/her management, but also in bringing in new talent as well as mentoring existing talent. This will be reflected in at least 10 years of progressive management growth, which will ideally include broadening editorial responsibilities. We are interested in candidates who may have moved into a different role within the broader industry but who wish to return and manage for growth and change.

He/she should be interested and motivated to develop high market share for every new project, and motivate staff to seek the same. To this end, the person will have a strategic sense of where to look for new projects and authors, how to build a profitable list, and plan for the future.

Necessary requirements include:

  • Personal signing list with consistent top sellers in first editions and revisions.

  • P&L management of at least $100M.

  • Comfort managing large staff of at least 50 people.

  • Ability to manage print to digital transformation.

  • Strategic planning and forecasting abilities.

  • Strong presentation skills.

Desirable attributes:

  • Passion for producing high-quality educational products.

  • Ability to instill same drive and enthusiasm in staff.

  • Discerning editorial judgment.

  • Ability to manage well in all directions.

  • A creative spirit.

  • Decisiveness, positive attitude, and the ability to channel competitive drive towards success.
