Deputy Director
Prestigious science education organization seeks a Deputy Director to be responsible for the design, development, and evaluation of external relations and outreach programs for the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze scientific and educational research related to pre-college science education. Develop and assess programs, goals, objectives, and strategic plans.
- Direct the continuing review and analysis of division programs and activities.
- Assist the Executive Director in identifying sources of funding from both private and public sector sources. Develop proposals for new program initiatives.
- Propose changes and recommend new initiatives within program areas.
- Attend conferences, meetings, and seminars to discuss and resolve problems and reach decisions on policies and procedural matters.
- Establish annual division goals and objectives. Develop requirements for division resources. Oversee bidding and contracting process for division work.
- Develop budgets for the division and continually monitor their execution.
- Bring the vision of a strong science curriculum for K-12 education both nationwide and internationally. Act as liaison with educational and scientific institutions to provide them with access to current information about resource materials, expertise, and strategies for improving school science.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of educational policies, theories, methods, materials, and practices related to pre-college science education. Familiarity with recent developments in science and technology and with recent trends in science education.
- Familiarity with the leading scientists and practitioners involved in the field of pre-college science education. Recognition within the scientific and educational communities as a national authority on pre-college science education.
- Superior communication and influencing skills.
- BS/BA or equivalent degree in field related to science education and at least 10 years of directly related experience, or MS/MA degree and at least 8 years of directly related experience. Advanced degree related to science education is preferred.
