Chief Financial Officer
An online education company that leverages proprietary technology and content in serving students/schools with test preparation for professional licensing in areas such as health care seeks a Chief Financial Officer to function as the CEO’s business partner and work with executive management to drive growth both organically and through acquisitions, ensure that financial information and systems support the reporting and planning needs of the organization, plan the company's future strategic direction, and be an integral part of the executive management team, operating the company day-to-day. The CFO is responsible for reports, analyses, and financial communications that provide company executives, operating managers, and investors with a clear view of the financial effect of their management actions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interface with the Board of Directors, providing financial presentations when appropriate.
- Take a lead role in preparing the company for SX compliance, filing of S1, and other matters associated with going public.
- Take a lead role in our efforts to grow aggressively through acquisitions, overseeing the financial evaluation of acquisition/divestiture opportunities, conducting research and due diligence, and developing financial analyses and recommendations.
- Determine company requirements for financial analysis, business metrics, planning, control, budgeting, and reporting systems that adequately monitor and provide financial insight into the operation of company business.
- Coordinate with and manage outside firms to provide auditing, financial, and legal services as required.
- Develop and direct the implementation of short- and long-term financial plans.
- Analyze and interpret financial information pertaining to the company’s performance in order to make recommendations concerning business policy, resource allocation, and business operations.
- Alert CEO and other key executives and managers to trends in the financial performance of the business that may require management action.
- Manage financial organization, develop performance standards, and assure that financial personnel are properly directed and qualified to fulfill their job responsibilities.
- Develop management policy for financial control and audit, oversee the audit function, and act in a fiduciary capacity for the maintenance of accurate accounting records.
- Lead the company’s efforts in interaction with third-party financial institutions with the raising of funds and any external fundraising/road-show endeavors on the company’s behalf.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of financial management experience in complex, high-growth operations.
- Public company experience (preferably as CFO).
- Experience leading a successful IPO in CFO role preferred.
- Proven track record of success in senior management positions of increasingly progressive responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and lead a high-performing finance organization.
- Significant experience in organizations with a strong education and/or technology component.
- Substantive experience with mergers and acquisitions, preferably through an M&A/corporate development group of a corporation, management consulting firm, or investment bank.
- Superior organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and oral.
- BS in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required. MBA, CPA preferred.
