Leading global provider of information for medical and health professionals seeks a Vice President of Sales to direct and manage sales and strategic operations for book product across all U.S. markets. This person will develop company-wide strategic plans and integrate those plans with corporate growth initiatives. Sets sales goals and initiates programs to promote market segment growth. Directs staff to meet or exceed divisional revenue targets and overall company objectives. The position calls for a recognized professional in the educational and professional book sales industry with a track record of progressive experience in sales management, strategic planning, and business development and a strong desire to grow in new areas.
Responsibilities:
- P&L accountability for Professional & Educational Books sales in North American markets.
- Develop and implement quarterly, annual, and long-range business plans including sales and operating budgets, incentive packages, etc.
- Develop analytic tools and metrics to support planning, sales reporting, sales performance management and effectiveness, and profitability measurement for the entire Books Group.
- Devise and implement competitive pricing strategies that achieve margin goals across markets.
- Support inventory management through systematic forecasting and ongoing field communications.
- Develop and maintain relationships with retailers, wholesalers, and other external business partners to achieve maximum sales impact across channels.
- Develop and implement targeted new sales channels, including online opportunities.
- Develop and implement effective GTM and sales deployment strategies based on end user market demand analysis.
- Manage and motivate a staff through regular communication and mentoring where needed.
Requirements:
Ten or more years of educational publishing experience in progressive sales management positions. Direct supervision of executive-level sales staff, and a recent record of outstanding sales growth. Requires an in-depth knowledge of the industry and customer base. Proven sales ability with strong negotiating, interpersonal, and communication skills.
