Larry Eidelberg, one of the "veterans" at Bert Davis, has been with the firm for 15 years. He has stayed this long not because anyone has forced him to, but because he loves recruiting in the publishing and new media fields.
When Larry graduated from New York University, he followed his dream and entered a career in television news production. But after some of life's unexpected twists and turns, he moved into publishing. He taught himself this new business by opening his own company, Shelter Books, where he developed titles for the professional health care market. After three successful years, Shelter was bought by a Swedish conglomerate, Esselte Video, and Larry ran their US operation and published a series of video directories. When that company was sold, he joined Knowledge Industry Publications as Manager of Directory Publishing.
Throughout his publishing career, Larry's focus (and real love) has been the editorial side of the business. When he joined Bert Davis, he immediately started placing editors in all areas that include trade, legal, medical, new technology, and magazines. Larry has built a specific specialty in educational publishing where has placed many people in the elementary, secondary, English-as-a-Second-Language, and college markets. Larry remembers his days as an editor fondly and, because of that experience, is able to understand the role editors play in the publishing process.
As the publishing and information industries continue to evolve, Larry feels there is still a great deal more opportunity for him to learn and to contribute. He is looking forward to another 15 years of being a part of enhancing both the careers of publishing professionals and the value of their companies.

Library service and research organization is seeking an experienced manager to lead third-party content portfolio, including reference databases, eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eJournals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage team of content specialists responsible for day-to-day management of content portfolio, for growing that portfolio, and for working closely with marketing and sales division to bring the portfolio to market.
- Work closely with the Vice President, Business Development and other members of the business development team to grow the portfolio in a manner that supports company strategy. This includes enhancing current offerings and introducing new offerings. Also includes working closely with the Vice President, Business Development to develop an annual operating plan for the portfolio.
- Represent content portfolio internally and externally. This includes outreach to membership through formal and informal events, ranging from speaking engagements to site visits, and participation in community events and forums related to content.
Requirements:
- A passion for serving libraries and their customers.
- At least five years of experience in digital publishing, with a strong preference for experience in product management, business development, or marketing.
- At least five years of management experience, ideally in a matrix environment, including both staff management and the management of P&L.
- A history of delivering new value, both by growing existing services and introducing new ones.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Familiarity with the current digital publishing environment.
- Experience in the institutional market (libraries and other cultural heritage institutions) is desirable.
- An M.B.A. is strongly preferred.
