Production Services Support Manager

Assume the lead role of Project Manager for all production services related projects. Work closely with the entire support team and provide assistance with team projects as required. Facilitate projects through to successful on-time completion. Find timely solutions to problems and ensure thorough resolution. Accurately track and report on the status of projects on a regular and timely basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide oversight for production related projects and operational activities. Prepare and ensure strict adherence to project schedules.
  • Provide guidance and support to assigned staff in the execution of their duties. Prepare and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Work with other departments on the design, development, testing, and implementation of tasks and projects.
  • Work closely with the other members of the support team and production management staff to ensure that priorities and operational and strategic initiatives are in sync and that schedules are met.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other business units involved with production services projects and/or initiatives to ensure a smooth workflow and that schedules are met.
  • Prepare and submit in-depth programming requirements and specifications.
  • Create and maintain reports containing details about deadlines and current status of projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual department budgets.
  • Provide front-line support as required to resolve production related problems as they arise.
  • Provide support to publishing partners as required.
  • Provide support to peers and Director as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and six years of publishing management experience required.
  • Must be results-oriented and possess excellent project management and follow-up skills, and be able to maintain schedules and deadlines.
  • A strong understanding of electronic production and a working knowledge of XML/ SGML, PDFs, Xyvision, or other composition systems, and graphics processing, is highly desirable.
  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated, and have the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, and communication skills, deadline-based, and a can-do attitude are also required.
