CHRISTOPHER NAVRATIL NAMED PUBLISHER AT RUNNING PRESS

We are pleased to announce that Christopher Navratil has been appointed Publisher of Running Press, a division of the Perseus Books Group.

Most recently, Navratil was Publisher of Accord Publishing, a recent acquisition of Andrews McMeel Universal, where he provided strategic direction for the imprint which focuses on innovative and interactive novelty children’s books, calendars, and craft kits. Most notably, Navratil spearheaded the development of interactive titles like the New York Times bestseller Bee & Me and other titles which incorporate the same innovative animation technology.

Previously, as Editorial Director of Potter Style, Navratil worked at bringing the content of categories such as diet/health, humor, cooking, pregnancy/child care, and pop culture to a broad range of formats such as non-book gift, stationery, journals, kits, and decks.

As Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Chronicle Books, Navratil not only oversaw all sales operations, but also launched the Custom Publishing division and had a critical role in the launch and growth of Giftworks, Chronicle’s gift and stationery line. As Chronicle’s Special Markets Director, he was instrumental in establishing Chronicle Books as a leader in gift/lifestyle publishing, with the largest representation of titles at independent and key specialty retail accounts of any U.S. publisher.

Navratil’s successful career in publishing followed his career in book selling at Barnes & Noble, where he was at different times Regional Manager for both west and east coasts. Navratil also has a background as a writer, editing two literary anthologies and contributing book reviews to The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
