TRIUMPH LEARNING APPOINTS JEFF RUBENSTEIN

VICE PRESIDENT, ELECTRONIC PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

We are pleased to announce that Jeff Rubenstein has been named Vice President of Electronic Product Development at Triumph Learning. Working with the software team, Jeff will be focusing on the strategy, technology, and execution of the Triumph Learning electronic products roadmap in coordination with the book publishing plans. Jeff reports to Dina Goren, SVP of Software and Publishing Operations.

 

Prior to joining Triumph Learning, Jeff held several positions at Wimba, Inc., including Vice President, Product Development, and, most recently, Chief Information Officer. Prior to Wimba, Jeff was Vice President, Technology Development in Princeton Review's Test Preparation Division. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Reed College and a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University.

TRIUMPH LEARNING NAMES JOHN LAWLER PRESIDENT & CEO

We are pleased to announce that Haights Cross Communications has appointed John Lawler as President & CEO of Triumph Learning. From 2001 to 2006, John was the President & CEO of Martindale-Hubbell, the information services provider to the legal market. During his tenure, John led Martindale’s transformation from a solely print-based publisher to a web-based information and marketing enterprise.

Over this same period, John also served as the chief executive for the Emerging Markets division for Lexis-Nexis, the global information and services provider for the business-to-business, legal, and government markets. In this role, he led numerous business acquisitions and integrations, with P&L and investment responsibility.

Since 2006, John has been consulting with numerous businesses in the media, publishing, and information services markets, including many private equity firms seeking to make investments in these markets. Prior to 2001, John held numerous executive positions in business and product development, as well as sales and marketing, with Dun & Bradstreet.

John brings a wealth of business growth, product development, and sales and marketing experience to his new role, and has been extremely successful in managing businesses through challenging product and market transitions, including moving businesses into the digital product space.

TRIUMPH LEARNING NAMES BILL SCROGGIE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Triumph Learning, a leading publisher of supplementary educational texts and software and a Haights Cross Communications company, has named Bill Scroggie Executive Vice President of Product Development. Scroggie reports to Kevin McAliley, Triumph Learning's President and CEO.

Scroggie joins Triumph Learning from Mazer Corporation where he spent eight years. Most recently, Scroggie was Director of Operations for Mazer's Creative Services division, the largest U.S. developer of K-12 educational materials. In that position, he supervised a staff of 150 at Mazer's Dayton, Orlando, and Boston offices. He was responsible for all editorial, creative, and production activity. At Mazer, Scroggie also held previous positions as Director of Creative Services, Editorial Manager, Executive Editor of Reading/Language Arts, and other senior editorial positions. He has also worked in advertising and public relations and has taught college-level English. Scroggie earned an M.A. in English from Indiana University and a B.A. in English from Duke University.

TRIUMPH LEARNING NAMES MARIE SPANO VICE PRESIDENT AND EDITORIAL DIRECTOR

Triumph Learning, a leading publisher of supplementary educational texts and software and a Haights Cross Communications company, has named Marie Spano Vice President and Editorial Director. Spano reports to Bill Scroggie, Triumph Learning's Publisher.

Spano joins Triumph Learning from Peoples Publishing Group where she spent over four years as Editorial Director. At Peoples, Spano built a 30-member editorial department and directed the company's product lines, including its Measuring Up series as well as its other product lines. Prior to joining Peoples, Spano spent 10 years as Vice President and Editorial Director of Pubworks, a New York City-based educational development company. In that position, she oversaw projects for a number of basal and supplemental publishers, including McGraw-Hill, Scholastic, Harcourt, Scott Foresman, and McDougal Littell. She has also served as an Executive Editor of Language Arts at Globe Book Company (Pearson Education) and editor for Prentice Hall. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in English from St. John's University. According to Kevin McAliley, Triumph Learning's President and CEO, “Marie Spano brings to Triumph a wealth of experience in standards-based instruction.
