MARGARET A. BECKER JOINS USP AS VICE PRESIDENT, PUBLICATIONS

Rockville, Md. - The U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) is pleased to welcome Margaret Becker as vice president, publications.

As vice president, publications for USP, Ms. Becker will head up the editorial and production groups which currently oversee USP's existing publications. She will also be charged with expanding USP's global presence by developing new materials and publications. USP currently has plans to produce USP-NF in Spanish and is looking to present other publications in a variety of languages as well. Ms. Becker's experience in international medical publishing will be of great use as USP moves forward.

“USP's publications have shown strong growth during the past several years, and with the impending launches of our Spanish edition of USP-NF and other new products, we have a very aggressive publishing plan as we embark on our 2005-2010 cycle,” said John T. Fowler, chief business officer. “Ms. Becker brings the right combination of skills, abilities, and vigor to lead our publishing group to ever-increasing successes.”

U.S. PHARMACOPEIA NAMES KATHY FLANAGAN DIRECTOR, PUBLICATIONS MARKET AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

As Director, Publications Market and Product Development, Kathy will be responsible for developing sales and marketing objectives and strategies to help grow the company’s publications. In her appointment, she will find new markets for existing publications and develop new products for existing markets as well as establish and manage strategic partnerships to extend the company’s marketing reach.

Kathy comes to U.S. Pharmacopeia from Plural Publishing in San Diego, California where she served as Publisher. In her position, Kathy developed and executed business strategies, with special emphasis on sales and marketing. Kathy graduated Cum Laude from Boston University with a major in Art History.
