We are pleased to announce the appointment of Malcolm Conner as the new General Manager of the Securities and Banking Portfolio in Legal Markets at Wolters Kluwer. Malcolm arrives from Elsevier, where he was Vice President of Clinical Solutions Marketing.
Previously Malcolm has held various positions with Thomson Reuters, including Senior Vice President, Global Customer Segments within Thomson Financial and Market Segment Head, Government Markets with Thomson West. Malcolm has also held a number of senior management positions with McGraw-Hill latterly with their Standard & Poor’s business as Vice President and General Manager.
Malcolm graduated from Hampton University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
We are pleased to announce that Carlos Davis has been named VP of Sales & GM for P&E Books, International at Wolters Kluwer Health. In this role, Carlos will direct and manage sales and strategic operations for Wolters Kluwer Health product lines (books, journals, and online) across all international markets. He will also set sales goals and initiate programs to promote market segment growth.
Carlos has over 15 years of experience in the publishing and content management industry. He arrives at Wolters Kluwer Health from McGraw-Hill Education, where he held the title of SVP, International for the Latin-Hispanic Publishing Group. Prior to that, Carlos was President/CEO of the Santillana USA division of Grupo Santillana, where he helped lead the company’s entry into the U.S. Hispanic market. Carlos previously held international sales and editorial positions at Thomson and John Wiley & Sons.
Carlos has a B.A. from Universidad de Buenos Aires, an M.A. from Penn State University, and an A.B.D. from the City University of New York.

Tom’s sales career spans 13 years within the ranks of LexisNexis and he brings to WK a unique breadth of experience in information publishing. His first role, in 1995, focused on consultative selling and training within the LexisNexis Corporate Sales Group. In that role, he created and presented law and application seminars, and solicited customer feedback for new products and product enhancements. He was soon promoted to Sales Operations Manager for the Corporate Sales Group, a role that involved extensive statistical analysis as well as communication to and professional development of the sales team.
In 1998, Tom was promoted again and for the next eight years rose through the ranks of the LexisNexis Enterprise Sales Group, where he served as National Account Manager, National Sales Manager, and Vice President, Strategic Sales. Through a single-minded focus on retention, penetration, and growth, Tom led his region to achieve above-plan growth in four of the past five years and was awarded Region of the Year in 2004.
Tom graduated from Fordham University and has a law degree from St. John’s University. He will be based in WK’s Philadelphia office.
We are pleased to announce that Wolters Kluwer Health has named Scott Lubeck as Vice President, Technology for the Professional and Education Group, a Customer Unit encompassing brand name products serving broad-based markets in clinical, educational, business-to-business, professional, and direct-to-patient channels. In this capacity, Scott will spearhead corporate electronic strategy, build online content delivery platforms, and manage legacy business information systems.
Scott has over 30 years of experience in the publishing industry. He comes to Wolters Kluwer from Newsstand Inc., where he served as Vice President/General Manager. Newsstand produces, markets, and distributes electronic editions of global newspapers and magazines to consumers worldwide.
Prior to that role, Scott was Chief Technology Officer at Harvard Business School Publishing, where he led the design and implementation of the organization’s digital publishing value chain. He previously served in senior technology and executive roles at Perseus Books Group, Electric Press, and National Academies Press. In addition, Scott founded Newrivers, Inc., a firm that developed and marketed Web-based software and services for the delivery of legacy documents via the Internet.
Scott has an A.B. degree from Brown University and an M.A. from the University of Texas.

Driscoll brings to Wolters Kluwer Health more than 25 years of experience in academic, trade, and online publishing. Prior to Wolters Kluwer Health, Driscoll held the positions of Vice President, Strategy for Author Solutions, Inc., and President & CEO of iUniverse, Inc., the world's leader in online publishing. She successfully built the model for authors to find their customers utilizing state-of-the-art publishing systems coupled with the marketing power of the internet.
Driscoll gained extensive e-business experience while she served as Chief Operating Officer of Bedford, Freeman & Worth, guiding operations for the college textbook publisher. She also held senior management roles at HarperCollins and Holt, Rinehart & Winston.
Driscoll, who will be based in Philadelphia, is a graduate of University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
We are pleased to announce that Susan Yules has been appointed Chief Financial Officer for Wolters Kluwer Law & Business. Susan is a seasoned financial executive with more than 20 years of diverse experience in the publishing industry in finance, operations, and general management. Susan will report to Bob Becker, President and CEO of Wolters Kluwer Law & Business. She begins her new position effective immediately and will be located in the New York office.
As CFO, Susan will provide leadership across the accounting and finance functions for all of Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, including the U.K. and U.S. teams, led by Mike Worthington and David Lench respectively. She will work closely with Becker and the executive team to plan the unit’s future strategic direction and help achieve business growth organically and through acquisitions. She will also assist with a variety of broad initiatives to drive operating excellence throughout Law & Business.
Susan joins WK from The Thomson Corporation. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President, Finance, Thomson Learning. Other positions she held there included: Senior Vice President and CFO, Lifelong Learning Group; Vice President, Finance and Business Development, Thomson Corporation Publishing International; Vice President, Planning and Communications, Thomson Newspapers; Vice President and CFO, Thomson Electronic Publishing; and Assistant Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions. Prior to Thomson, Susan spent seven years with Ernst & Young in their New York audit group.
Wolters Kluwer, a leading multinational publisher and information services company, today announced it has appointed Paul Jensen as Vice President, Content and Platform Management for Wolters Kluwer North America Shared Services.
In this newly created role within the Wolters Kluwer's North America Shared Services organization, Mr. Jensen is responsible for developing and setting enterprise-wide strategies and business priorities for content and publishing activities across Wolters Kluwer North America businesses. In collaboration with business and technology colleagues in both North America and Europe, he will work to develop, execute and manage an overall migration to next-generation platforms and tools for content management and delivery.
"Paul's extensive background in both technology and business leadership make him uniquely qualified to act as a bridge between customer units and technology groups as we move to a new, global platform for Wolters Kluwer content," said Christopher Cartwright, CEO, Wolters Kluwer North America Shared Services.
Mr. Jensen's background includes over ten years with The Thomson Corporation in a variety of roles. As Chief Technical Officer at RIA, he led the product design and technology development of the Checkpoint online research platform and designed and managed the XML/SGML based database publishing system that automated authoring and production of print and electronic services. Since leaving Thomson, Mr. Jensen held a variety of general management and consulting roles in venture capital-backed start-ups, including the position of CEO/President of MindGarden.com, a provider of complex, web-based psychological assessments and tools. He holds an MBA from Columbia University.
Mr. Jensen is based in Riverwoods, Ill., headquarters for Wolters Kluwer North America Shared Services, and reports to Vice President of Business Operations and Transformation, Martin Bush.
