Jim Conley
President/CEO
Jim Conley joined Bert Davis in 2012 and led the firm’s Operations with a keen focus on consultative and customer-focused client relationship management. Jim is dedicated to the recruitment of senior leaders in all areas of the Publishing, Educational Technology and Nonprofit spaces. He leads these searches with full client communication and transparency.
Janine Subel
Senior Vice President
Janine has a wealth of recruiting experience, particularly in the areas of K-12 and EdTech in the United States. Prior to joining Bert Davis, Janine served as Director of International Talent Acquistion at BDO Seidman LLP. Earlier in her career, Janine was a Recruiting Director at Deloitte Consulting/Roundarch where she focused on hiring IT professionals. She also was previously a Practice Leader at a digital communications services company and a Director of Recruiting at an international accounting and advisory organization. She is currently based primarily in San Diego, CA.

Jeanne Bertelle
Executive Vice President
Jeanne Bertelle, Executive Vice President, joined BDES in 2004 and brings a rare combination of deep industry knowledge, human resources leadership, and executive search expertise to every engagement she undertakes.
Prior to joining BDES, Jeanne served as Senior Director of Human Resources at McGraw-Hill Companies, one of the world's most respected publishing and education organizations. During her tenure at McGraw-Hill, she developed broad expertise across a diverse range of business areas including Professional & Reference, Medical Publishing, Business and Finance, School and Higher Education, Computer Information, and Corporate M&A. This experience gave Jeanne an exceptional understanding of how great organizations are built, led, and sustained — knowledge she brings directly to her work at BDES.
At BDES, Jeanne leads senior management searches across all disciplines and functions. Her ability to assess leadership talent through both a strategic business lens and a deep human resources perspective allows her to identify executives who not only meet the technical requirements of a role, but who will thrive within an organization's culture and contribute to its long-term success.
Kristi Johnston
Senior Vice President
Kristi Johnston, Senior Vice President, has been with Bert Davis Executive Search since 2004. Kristi recruits candidates across all industries and functional areas, including education/ed-tech, publishing, media, content, and nonprofit. She holds a BA from Bucknell and attended the Publishing Institute at the University of Denver. She is currently based in the Phoenix area.
